*Minor spoiler alert* I received a copy of Forbidden Wish from First To Read, and I am so glad I did. I am a huge fan of new twists on the old, much loved tales. Aladdin is one of my very favorites, but it is difficult to get it just right. This rendition is intriguing and beautiful… spellbinding. It gives us a look into the world and customs of the jinni. So powerful, yet caged. Tied to their masters, to wishes and rules. Rule number one: never love a human. Zaharah has made that mistake before and paid the price. But this boy…. How can she help herself? Countries and world hang in the balance. What happens when the jinni loves?
In this book we travel through the eyes of Zaharah, Aladdin and the princess. It has a crisp pace to it, but the author keeps it moving smoothly. I loved the interaction between characters.
Adult content: none, really. This is a preteen to young adult novel, and one I would hand to anyone from 8 to 50 without batting an eye.
