Heather Fowler is following her dreams with a single-minded determination. Get from her small town to New York, and be a wedding planner. Right now she is just an assistant- but the promotion is coming. She loves the fast paced life, and seeing the bride’s day come into focus.
Josh Tanner was once an up-and-coming on Wall Street before life forced him to slow down. He left his job, started a band and lives with as few attachments as possible. No girl friends, just a string of one night stands… it’s better this way.
When the two meet, sparks fly. They are attracted to one another, yes, but they drive each other crazy. He sees a high strung workaholic, and she sees an over grown frat boy. Placed together by proximity- and the fact that he is in a unique position to help with the wedding that she is trying to put together without any help from the bride. As the two get to know one another, they discover more and more about one another- except Josh has walls up like no other. No talking about his past, no talking about his future, no getting close, no talking about his job or lack there of. It’s driving Heather crazy because she knows she is missing something.
A sudden illness forces Josh’s hand. He has to tell his family, who in turn tell Heather- the cancer may have returned. To save her from being one of the ones that mourns him, he pushes her away, only to find later that there was no need. Can he get the girl back?
I have a love/hate relationship with this book. I loved the characters, and the story line was great. It was a fast paced, charming book. What I hated, was how far they went with the whole “no attachments” thing. It got a bit old to tell you the truth. At least for me. Otherwise it was a great book, I just don’t feel it was as good as the first one.
On the adult content scale, we have language and some seriously explicit sexual content. I have to give it an eight.
The book is out- go get it!
