Rejected by the Navy Seals, Mitchum has come back home to be his sleepy town’s unofficial PI. Basically this is finding one’s drunk husband or helping the elderly and confused. When his little cousin turns up missing, his world turns upside down. Suddenly there are strangers, and murders, in his little town! Using all his skills, Mitchum follows the clues to a secret that could change everything.
I have to admit, I could not get lost in this story. The plot was fine, if a bit slow in sections. The characters, while not spectacularly developed were good. Mitchum as a character just hasn’t caught me yet. I like him, and find his story interesting…. there was just something missing for me. I also felt like the whole Navy Seal thing was dragged out way more often than necessary. Oddly only one person actually thought to ask why he left training. Still, it was fun and interesting. I will be reading at least the next few of these books.
On the adult content scale, there is a lot of violence, language and drug content. I am giving it a seven. I would let my niece read it as nothing is too graphic, but there are some that would not like it.
The book is out now- have you read it?
